25 students fall ill after having Mid Day Meal, probe ordered

KATHUA: Around 25 students of a government school on Wednesday fell ill after having the midday meal in the district following which a probe was ordered into the incident by authorities.
“Around 25 students of Government Middle School, Ghatti complained of nausea and vomiting with pain in their stomach after having the midday meal being served in the school and they have been hospitalised,” Sarpanch of Ghatti village, J.P Singh said.
The students were shifted to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in the village from where they were shifted to the district hospital for specialised treatment.
The district administration has formed a committee headed by Chief Education Officer (CEO) of the district to inquire into the incident.
“As soon as I received the information, I formed a committee comprising Tehsildar of the area, food inspector and the CEO. The team has been sent to the school to probe the incident,” Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Ramesh Kumar told.
He said anyone found guilty of serving sub-standard food to the students, would be dealt with as per law.
Out of 25, eight students were discharged after treatment while 17 others were identified as Salim Din son of Mohd Ali, Gorav son of Makhan, Mamta daughter of Makhan Lal, Dolli Devi daughter of Deepak Kumar, Sangita daughter of Salinder Singh, Masoom Ali son of Saab Din, Jasvir Singh son of Pritma Singh, Veena Akhter daughter of Amir Ali, Asman Ali, Vishal son of Dev Raj, Drub son of Arjun, Sachin son of Badal, Bhushan, Rahul son of Arjun, Chnamd Singh, Radhika daughter of Arjun, Sunny son of Harbans Lal, Jufa Bi daughter of Mohd Ali and Sapna daughter of Harbans Lal.
