SANGRA’S STORY BOOK RELEASED STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: A Dogri short stories collection ‘Antakaran Di Qaid’ by the senior T.V Radio Drama artist-cum-writer, Santosh Sangra was released at a function organized here at KL Saigal Hall on Tuesday.
Published by Hybro Publications Bari Brahamna, the released book incorporates 16 short stories on various social issues focusing women.
Parvez Dewan, IAS (Retd.) was the Chief Guest whereas Dr. Veena Gupta, former HoD Dogri, Jammu University presided over the function. Sangra who is considered a doyen of drama, has acted in six hundred radio plays since 1976. Besides, her powerful performance in 70 stage plays in different language in and outside the State, she has above 50 TV serials and some feature films to her credit. Profusely awarded for her performances, she has also scripted plays for TV and published about 100 pieces of literature.
A brief critical review on the book was presented by noted poet and critic Susheel Begana who discussed the content and style of short stories of the released book wherein the writer has touched some of the innermost sensibilities of women giving it eloquence.
Parvez Dewan congratulated Sangra on the release of her second book of Dogri short stories and said that art and literature give special status to women in society.
In her presidential address, Dr Veena Gupta said that the literary work of Sangra is known for her keen observation and social consciousness vis a vis women sensibilities.
Chhatrapal, President of Dogri Sanstha said that Sanstha has been encouraging creative writers by providing them its platform.
Dr. A.S Aman, Additional Secretary of JKAACL also spoke on this occasion about the literary qualities of Sangra.
Santosh Sangra presented a short story titled ‘Ik Hor Mahishasur’ from her book which was liked by the audience. The literary function, conducted by Dr. Chanchal Bhasin, Literary Secretary of Dogri Sanstha, was attended by leading writers, poets and members of the civil society.
