Larger warnings are a step in the right direction towards helping a person quit tobacco consumption as numerous studies have consistently demonstrated the effectiveness of pictorial labels – a study in the Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention is one such example. Tobacco companies are known to throw a spanner in the works when their interests are threatened. While there is scope for improvement in tobacco control measures in India, one must appreciate the steps being taken by the government and the judiciary in prioritising health management.
