CHINAR CORPS CENTENARY CYCLE EXPEDITIO STATE TIMES NEWS
JAMMU: As part of Chinar Corps centenary celebrations, a cycle expedition has been undertaken under aegis of the Himalayan Brigade of the Dagger Division involving three legs of about 450 km each traversing Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir Valley.
“Ten participants on each route shall traverse through extremely difficult terrain and climate to encourage spirit of adventure and highlight immense contribution of the Chinar Corps in last 100 years, while spreading a message of harmony, unity and progress,” Defence Spokesperson said.
The Jammu leg of the expedition was today flagged off from Nagrota by Lieutenant General R.R Nimbhorkar, General Officer Commanding, White Knight Corps.
This leg of the expedition shall follow the old Moghul Route to Kashmir Valley.
Speaking on the occasion, Lieutenant General Nimbhorkar highlighted the significance of the event and the immense contribution of Indian Army in security and development of the region.
He also duly emphasised the significance of adventure activities at the core of soldiering.
The Zozila and Chinar legs of the expedition were also simultaneously flagged off from Leh and Baramulla respectively by Lieutenant General S.K Patyal, General Officer Commanding, Fire and Fury Corps and Major General J.S Nain, General Officer Commanding, Dagger Division.
All three teams will be flagged in on 25th May, 2016 at Headquarters of Chinar Corps, Badami Bagh Cantt, Srinagar in a special ceremony.
