Sikhs resent assault on youth, seek strict action

AKHNOOR: Expressing strong resentment against assault on community youth by two brothers hailing from R.S Pura at Akhnoor Bus Stand on 9th May, members of Sikh community on Monday sought strict legal action against the duo.
The issue came to fore in a meeting of Sikh community held here at Baba Sunder Singh Ji Gurdwara under the supervision of Gurdwara Sikh Parbandhak District Committee (GSPDC) Joint Secretary Mohinder Singh, GSPDC President Akhnoor Master Surjeet Singh, Tehsil President Lakhveer Singh, Vice President Ranvir Singh, Jaswant Singh, Capt. Gopal Singh, Capt. Prem Singh, Inspector Balwant Singh and Master Baldev Singh.
Later, the members of Sikh community met SDM Suresh Chander Sharma and Deputy SP Gurvinder Pal Singh and apprised them about the scuffle between Sikh youth Harveender Singh hailing from R.S Pura and the assailants Sunny Gupta and Bunny Gupta, also from the same place. The deputation of Sikh community members sought strict legal action against the guilty to diffuse the prevailing tension in the region.
The Deputy SP Gurvinder Pal Singh informed the deputation that Akhnoor police has already registered a case and arrested Sunny Gupta and Bunny Gupta. “The inquest proceedings are underway”, he informed.
