New Siraj Doda, Himachal Pradesh register wins in 12th Gufran C’ship

DODA: Guided with Sameer brilliant 70-run inning New Siraj Doda registered huge 101 run win over Andhra Pradesh in the league match of the ongoing All India 12th Gufran Memorial T20 Cricket Championship 2016 being organised by Young Star Cricket Club Doda and sponsored by Rashtriya Rifles Battalion Doda at Sports Stadium, here on Sunday.
Earlier batting first after winning the toss, New Siraj Doda set a target of 167 runs for the loss of four wickets in 16 overs. Sameer smashed 70 runs followed by Shakeel, who added 41 runs to the total. For Andhra Pradesh, D Manoj and Barath shared one wicket respectively. In reply, Andhra Pradesh team could not manage to chase down the target and was bundled out for 66 runs in 14 overs. Venkatesh (18) and Suresh (13) runs were the main scorers. For New Siraj Doda, Mehran and Shakeel shared three wickets each. Shakeel of New Siraj Doda was declared as Man of the Match for his all round performance.
In another match of the day, Himachal Pradesh registered five-run win over Prince Cricket Club (PCC) Thathri in close contest.
Himachal Pradesh, batting first, set a target of 149 runs for the loss of ten wickets in 13.5 overs. Vinay played a fine knock of 53 runs followed by Navneet, who added 40 runs to the total. For PCC Thathri, Vaid picked three wickets while Adil and Makhnoor shared two each.
In reply, Prince Cricket Club Thathri, despite good batting, failed to chase the target and managed to score 144 runs in 18 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Naeem (19) and Makhnoor (18) runs were the top scorers. For Himachal Pradesh, Atul was the pick of the bowler, who grabbed four wickets while Sourav and Sanjay shared two each.
Atul of Himachal Pradesh team was declared as Man of the Match for his best bowling performance who was given prize by Chief Guest, Abdul Majeed Bichoo, President JK Senior Citizen’s Council for Peace and Civil Rights.
The matches were officiated by Aayush Sharma, Bharat Jajuriya, Munish Zutshi and Noshair Batt as Umpires whereas Rinku Bhaduria Act as Scorer and Ashok Sharma (Video Analyst) as Third Umpire.
