JAMMU: Police on Thursday arrested a drug peddler and recovered 1.5 Kg brown sugar, having market value of more than Rs 1 crore, 300 capsules and Rs 2.20 lakhs cash from his possession.
According to reports, a police party led by In-charge Police Post Hari Market, Jammu, SI Kunal Singh intercepted a person namely Vicky Kumar, son of late Sukh Ram, resident of House No. 4, Kanji House, Jammu.
On checking his belongings, police team recovered 300 capsules, 1.5 Kg brown sugar, having market value of more than Rs 1 crore and cash worth Rs 2.20 lakhs from his bag.
A case FIR No 37/2016 under Section 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station City.
A police official informed that Vicky himself is a drug addict and is habitually dealing in the smuggling/ sale of narcotics for the last so many years.
The arrest was made under the direct supervision of SHO Police Station City, Jammu, Inspector Shakti Devi and SDPO City North, Vivek Shekhar, KPS, under the overall supervision of SP City North, Vinod Kumar, IPS.
