JAMMU: There is rampant corruption in the RTO Department in Jammu as majority of the employees in the office have overstayed for decades, and they have indulged in every sort of corrupt practice during their tenure.
This startling allegation was made by State President, Jammu and Kashmir Freedom Fighter Association (JKFFA), Ved Gandotra today, who visited the RTO office to check out the real facts in governance.
Gandotra further alleged that RTO has over-stayed in his position at the RTO office Jammu for many years and this is basically the main cause of corruption. He appealed to Transport Minister to immediately transfer present RTO to end corruption. He alleged that important tasks like registration of vehicles, issue of permits, and passing of vehicles is being done by the same individual for the past several years, and this has lead to major corruption in the department with large number of touts, agents and middlemen playing a major role in greasing the system.
“RTO office Jammu has become the hub of corruption as innocent public gets harassed unnecessarily in seeking driving license/preparation of documents of fresh vehicles,” he said adding that RTO office has been turned as biggest government office where total control and function is made by the agents and every driving license seekers are forced to lose his pocket to meet out the money greed of the officials. He also endorsed the statement of President, All J and K Motors Transport Companies, S. Gajan Singh who raised corruption in RTO office Jammu. He also said that RTO Jammu keeps all the commercial files which are required approval pending as he always remains busy in meetings and driving-tries resulting in unnecessary delay and often misplacement of files.
