United Punjab wins in Hiranagar Gold Cup

JAMMU: United Punjab Football Club won both senior and junior matches on the second day of the ongoing Hiranagar Gold Cup Football Tournament, organised by Hiranagar Football Club and sponsored by Shakti Punj (NGO) at Sports Stadium, Hiranagar in district Kathua. In the first match of the day, United Punjab seniors defeated Kailly Football Club by two goals to nil. Sourav Pathania and Binit Agarwal were the scorers. In other match, United Punjab juniors trounced Hiranagar Football Club 2-1. Surya and Ankit netted the ball from Punjab while Raghunandan reduced the margin from Hiranagar. In today’s matches, Kulbir Singh and advocate Ranit Singh were Special Guests, who interacted with the teams. The Organising Committee of the tournament included Surinder Pathania of Hirangar Football Club and K.P Singh. In all, 12 teams are participating in this five-day long competition. Earlier, the tournament was declared open by MLA Kathua yesterday. Also present were retired DySP, K.P Singh. The event is also supported by Sakti Kunj, an NGO of Hiranagar. In the opening tie, DFA Kathua-B defeated Sungwali Mandi, Samba 4-1. Abhishek, Prem, Rahul and Parul were scorers from winning side while Devinder reduced the margin from Samba. The technical panel in this event including Adil Bahadur, Sachin Khajuria, Gagan Deep Singh, Rakesh Sharma, Sachin Khajuria and Aniket Jasrotia is led by Ronni.
