Govt sets up panel to protect Dal LakeSTATE TIMES NEWS

Jammu: As part of its efforts to save the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir Government has setup an 11-member panel for preservation and protection of the water body.
“Sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of a (11 member) Monitoring Committee for preservation and protection of Dal lake in Srinagar city (in Kashmir),” a GAD order stated.
The panel would be headed by the Chief Secretary B. R Sharma and Chairman of Lakes and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) would be its Member Secretary, he said.
The other Members are Financial Commissioner Planning and Development Department B. B Viyas, DGP Jammu and Kashmir Rajendra Kumar, Divisional Commissioner and IG of Kashmir Division, Principal Secretary Forest Department, Commissioner/Secretaries of Finance, Housing and Law Departments apart from Secretary Tourism Department.
The committee shall devise a permanent mechanism for preserving and protecting the Dal Lake and shall monitor and oversee the implementation of this mechanism, the order said.
