In our health system, the poor cannot get treatment in multi-specialty hospitals, being too costly. The government allots land to such hospitals on throwaway prices on the condition that such the institutions will provide medical facilities to BPL families and poor patients on nominal charges.
But these terms are only in paper. Neither the Health Department nor the heads of such five-star institutions take care of poor patients. There are numerous such cases where poor have lost the fight for want of money as well as proper treatment in hospitals which are just minting money.
