JAMMU: Former Minister and Independent MLA from Udhampur Assembly Constituency Pawan Gupta on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the BJP and its leadership for compromising on its core agenda and allegedly merging the party with the PDP to enjoy the loaves of power.
He warned the BJP leaders, desperately searching for an opportunity to silence his voice, that he was not scared of them.
“I have a strong DNA and I can stand up against the leaders hell bent upon ignoring the interests of the people of Jammu region and compromising with the issues of strategic importance”.
Addressing a press conference here, the former minister clarified, “I never visited door step of any senior BJP leader to make me minister”.
“In reality after I defeated Narendra Modi backed BJP candidate in the Assembly polls, I was approached by the senior party leaders including National General Secretary Ram Madhav to accept the ministerial berth”, he added.
Gupta claimed even while offering me the ministerial berth, the vested interests played mischief with me. “Instead of offering me a cabinet berth they accommodated me as junior minister in the council of ministers of Mufti Mohd Sayeed led alliance government”.
He said ever since the BJP has relaunched the alliance under the leadership of Mehbooba Mufti it is clearly evident that the BJP has compromised with its core ideology.
He said it looks like BJP has merged with the PDP. He said during the forthcoming Assembly session he would be sitting on the opposition benches and would be raising the issues of Jammu region. He said, “I am not going to stay silent and would continue to raise my voice against the wrong doings of the BJP and the alliance government”,
