CISF gets ‘Other Policing Initiative’ award

NEW DELHI: Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organised a felicitation function under title ‘FICCI Smart Policing Awards’ here at FICCI Auditorium.
FICCI, with its commitment to homeland security (internal security) initiated the above mentioned awards for best practices in Smart Policing in various categories like anti-insurgency, child safety, community policing, cyber-security, elderly safety, human trafficking, road safety and traffic management, women safety and other policing initiatives.
Minister of State for Home Affairs, Haribhai Parthibhai Chaudhary was the Chief Guest with Chairman AIATF, M.S Bitta presented the awards to the representatives of various state police and Central Armed Police Forces selected for the said awards.
CISF has been awarded in ‘Other Policing Initiative’ category for launching ‘Lost and Found’ web application on the CISF official website for left-over items and valuables left behind by the commuters at the 59 airports in India guarded by the CISF.
MoS for Home Affairs and M.S Bitta presented the award to AIG (Tech), CISF HQrs, New Delhi, Sumant Singh.
It is to mention here that CISF has the responsibility to secure 59 airports of our country. During routine operations it was found that the flyers leave behind huge cash of various denomination, jewellery, cell phones, laptops and electronic items among others. After evaluation the items are returned to the rightful owner or deposited with airport operator. The flyers may check the “Lost & Found” web application on CISF website to retrieve their lost articles. This web application has been a run-away success with regular updates of such items from all the airports under the security cover of CISF. This web application is totally user friendly and designed with graphical user interface which makes it easy to operate.
During the year 2015, articles worth approx Rs 11 crore were restored to their bonafide owners and articles worth approx. Rs 21.5 crore to the airport operators. More than 18,000 items of vide range have been found and reported through this web application.
