LEH: Delhi Public School (DPS), Leh conducted Inter-Houses Athletic Meet here in the school grounds in which the students of four houses comprising classes 6th to 12th participated.
The meet began by lighting of traditional torch by the Principal of the School, Subhash Kumar Baldotra followed by the group songs by the four houses of the school.
All the students of different houses gave tough competition to each other. The Athletic Meet was conducted for only two disciplines 100 metres and 200 metres.
In junior category Stanzin Dawa, Irfan Ali and Manan Manzoor all belonged to Gandhi House clinched first, second and third places respectively in 100 meters boys category whereas Zehran Aaways of Bhagat House, Mohd Yousuf of Tagore House and Padma Lotus of Bhagat House got first, second and third positions respectively in 200 metres. Padma ladol of Bhagat House, Sakina Khatoon of Tagore House and Tsering Dolker of Bhagat House clinched first, second and third positions in 200 metres girls category.
In boys senior category of 200 metres, Ghulam Hussain of Gandhi House, Mohd Shoaib of Nehru House and Stanzin Jigmet of Gandhi House grabbed first, second and third place whereas in girls category Jigmet Chuzin of Nehru House, Maksuma Khatoon of Tagore House and Yasmin Kausar of Tagore House clinched first, second and third places respectively.
Principal, Subhash Baldotra distributed the citations and medals to the winner students in a function. He emphasised that sports and games are also an integral part of the school curriculum which helps in the physical as well as mental growth of the students. He also stressed that the games should be played with a good sportsman spirit and not to indulge in foul play. Local Management Committee Member T.P Singh also applauded and appreciated the winners for their commendable performances and wished them good luck for their future endeavour.
