300th Martyrdom of Baba Banda Bahadur to be celebrated on May 7

JAMMU: Various Sikh organisations are to celebrate the 300th Martyrdom Anniversary of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur at Mahant Bachittar Singh (MBS) Engineering College of Technology at Babliana, here on 7th May, 2016.
This was stated by Avtar Singh Khalsa, member elected DGPC Jammu and General Secretary Sikh United Front, J and K in a joint press conference, here on Wednesday.
He further said that Gurmat Samagam is being held under the supervision of Mahant Manjit Singh Ji of Shiromani Dera Nangali Sahib Poonch, with the cooperation of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee.
“The colourful religious function shall be celebrated at MBS Engineering College, Bablina Jammu on 7th May 2016 Saturday from 7:00 PM to 12:00 Midnight,” he said.
Many Ragis from Sri Darbar Sahib Amritsar are participating namely Bhai Gurdev Singh Ji, Bhai Gurmeet Singh Shant and Bhai Ranjit Singh Ji Head Granthi of Gurdwara Bangla Sahib, Delhi, he said adding that programme on the life and history of Baba Banda Singh Ji Bahadur will be telecast for the first time in J and K State.
Chief Organiser, Bhai Kanaya Nishkam Seva Society, J and K, Mohinder Singh appealed to the Sikh Sangant to participate in the religious function along with family members so that they come to know their history and sacrifices of Sikhs for the sake of country and religion.
He also appealed to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and Dy. Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh to install a statue of Baba Banda Singh Bahadur on the Kunjwani Chowk.
