JAMMU: Justice Mohammad Yaqoob Mir of J and K High Court directed the Vice Chancellor of Jammu University to forward the thesis of petitioners including Skalzang Dorjey, Kouple Dev and Sunita Sharma, scholars of Prof Nirmal K Singh, Deputy Chief Minister of J&K, to concerned authorities.
Earlier, Advocate Aseem Sawhney while representing the students of Prof Nirmal Singh submitted before the court that the University authorities in their tussle with the Deputy Chief Minister are harassing these students.
Aseem submitted that earlier also these scholars had approached the High Court where by university authorities were directed to allow the scholars of the Deputy Chief Minister to continue their research under his supervision. Petitioners were aggrieved of impugned order dated 26th November 2015 passed by Jammu University disallowing the scholars to continue with the existing supervisor.
Further Advocate Aseem Sawhney contended that it was out of question to change the supervisor as most of the petitioners had completed 80 to 90 per cent of their research work and what was left behind was only the submission of the thesis. “University authorities who remained negligent about implementing the impugned resolution of 7th December 1987 at proper time, later when the 90 per cent research was over, they tried to change the supervisor at a crucial stage without thinking about the research and career of three innocent scholars. What is more surprising is that earlier the same authorities allowed two scholars namely Chanderkanta and Neeraj Jandyal working under Prof. Nirmal Singh to submit their abstract as well as their thesis. But suddenly the university authorities came out of their hibernation and issued order for the change of internal examiner of the above two scholars and to allot a new supervisor for the other three petitioners”, Aseem further submitted.
