KATRA: Police on Tuesday arrested two bootleggers and recovered 79 pouches of liquor from their possession.
Acting on a specific input, a police team headed by Inspector Sanjeev Sharma, SHO Police Station Katra during patrolling at Bus Stand Katra succeeded in recovery of 40 pouches of J and K Excise Liquor from the possession of Darshan Lal son of Gunja Ram resident of Nagrota Tehsil Nagrota District Jammu. The accused person was arrested and recovered liquor has been seized. A case vide FIR No. 66/2016 under section 48-A Excise Act, 188/RPC was registered at Police Station Katra.
Meanwhile, acting on a specific input, the a police team of Police Station Katra also recovered 39 pouches of J and K Excise Liquor from the possession of Kulwant Singh son of Vachitter Singh resident of Ransoo Tehsil Pouni District Reasi during special Naka at Matyal near Petrol Pump who was on way towards Katra from Udhampur on a Scooty Activa Honda bearing registration No.JK20/8784. The accused person was and recovered liquor seized. Scooty Activa Honda bearing registration No.JK20/8784 which was used for transportation of illicit liquor has also been seized. A case vide FIR No. 67/2016 under section 48-A Excise Act, 188/RPC was registered at Police Station Katra.
Both the recoveries were made under the supervision of Dr. Ashok Sharma, SDPO Katra, Sumir Kotwal, Addl.SP Katra and overall supervision of Sujit Kumar, IPS SSP Reasi.
