JAMMU: In an exhibition match played at Phallian Mandal here on Monday, Media-A team defeated Media-B by a margin of 51 runs.
The Media-A team, led by Mir Imran, after winning the toss elected to bat first and scored a total of 241 runs in 25 overs with the loss of eight wickets.
Sunil Bali of Media-A team scored highest 92 runs in 38 runs while Ashu Kumar scored 42 in 26 balls and Illyas Mallik scored 24 runs in 16 balls. For Media-B team, Yash Khajuria and Amit clinched two wickets each.
Led by Yash Khajuria the Media-B team, in reply, could make only 190 runs with the loss of all wickets.
Amit Sudan scored 73 in 40 balls for the team while Yash Khajuria scored 43 in 27 balls.
Vivek Suri of Media-A with his fantastic spell, took three wickets in three overs giving 12 runs while Jagdeep Singh also clinched three wickets for the team.
Sunil Bali of Media-A was declared as the Man of the Match for his outstanding 92 runs in 38 runs.
Prominent social worker, Sanjay Gupta was the Chief Guest while BJP District President Baldev Singh Billowria was the Guest of Honour.
Babloo and Vishal were the Umpires for the match and Mir Imran was the organiser. Sachin Singh was the Scorer, Sohan Bharti was the Commentator.
Sanjay Gupta appreciated the teams for their outstanding spirit in the field of sports activities. “Till today, I was of the opinion that the media persons are confined only up to their small world of news reporting but after seeing their enthusiasm for the game today, I was taken by surprise”, Baldev said.
Sanjay Gupta and Billowria, appreciating the media players, distributed them some sports kits and cricket bats.
He also assured to organise a match between the BJP and Media teams in nearing future.
