JAMMU: Akashdeep Singh Bhatia and Meenal Gupta excelled in the ongoing Jammu Division selection events of chess by taking away under-19 boys and girls titles respectively, here on Monday.
In boys section, Imtiyaz Ahmed got second place while third place went to Harshit Gupta. Similarly, in girls’ category, second place bagged by Arushi Kotwal while Nayandeep Kour finished third.
Meanwhile, Divyam Gupta won first place in under-nine category while second place went to Nipun Padha. Shubankar S Sobani remained third. Shreyas Magotra was declared winner in under- seven group.
Senior player, Sumit Grover officiated all the matches. Now, the under-15 age category events shall take place tomorrow. For all other category events players can check site www.alljkchess.com, a handout issued here today informed.
