Manjit seeks compensation for fire-affected farmers

VIJAYPUR: Former Minister and General Secretary PCC Manjit Singh on Sunday asked Government to provide compensation to those farmers who have lost their crops in accidental fire in Vijaypur area.
Addressing the monthly meeting of Congress workers, the PCC General Secretary said that fire-hit farmers have been facing neglect of government as no compensation or relief has been announced till date.
He sought attention of the Government to look into the issue to provide much needed succour to farmers.
Raising the issue of water scarcity in Kandi belts, he said PHE’s failure in providing potable water is forcing people to buy water from private tanker operators.
“The issue is not only of drinking water, but tale end villages have also been suffering because of dried-up tributaries ,” he further alleged while quoting some complaints which he listened during the meeting with Congress workers.
The former Minister said that the Kandi villages have no irrigation water supply in canals and the Government should immediately look into the issue so that the people should not suffer any more.
Coming down heavily on the NDA Government especially BJP, he said, the Prime Minister promised during 2014 parliamentary elections that prices of essential commodities would come down if BJP comes to power.
But what happened was contradictory. “Prices of the essential commodities are touching skies adding to woes of people,” he said.
“Such a price hike was never happened in India. BJP has broken all records and common man is facing unprecedented hardship,” he added.
He said that the people should know that Congress is the only party which works for the poor and downtrodden sections of society.
He also demanded reservation for the people living along the International Border on the pattern of ALC reservations.
