JAMMU: Jagti Tenement Committee and Soan Kashmir Front today appealed to the Governor N.N Vohra for ensuring permanent rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandit migrant community in satellite township in Kashmir Valley near Srinagar city for their dignified and peaceful living.
In a meeting held here today, Shadi Lal Pandita, President of the Committee and Front, welcomed the initiative taken up by the Governor for passing directions to the authorities concerned in Jammu and Kashmir Government for ensuring implementation of Prime Minister’s employment package in its letter and spirit as well as creating more posts for the educated youth of this community and construction of quarters in Kashmir Valley for accommodating the migrant employees smoothly in Valley.
A demand has been put forward for ensuring grant of one time compensation to the Kashmiri Pandit migrant families for the losses suffered by them during past 27 years of migration due to damages to their properties in Kashmir Valley.
The participants further said that the existing road from Kandoli to Jagti is in damaged and dilapidated conditions which has restricted smooth movement of the vehicular traffic as well as pedestrians besides has created apprehensions of untoward happening with vehicular traffic as well as pedestrians.
Pandita said that time and again this has been brought to the notice of the authorities concerned through representations and memorandums but still nothing has been done in this regard which has put the inmates of this migrant township to lot of sufferings. The participants have demanded immediate repairs of this road for ensuring smooth movement of vehicular traffic, pedestrians as well as avoiding any mishap.
During the course of meeting representatives of Sampooran Kashmir Sangathan also participated represented by Rakesh Koul, Bharat Ji Kachroo and others who said that both the organisations will work jointly for the welfare of the community. The participants from both the organisations have said that since more than 26 years have passed when the community was forced to leave homes and hearths and are living a life in exile as such both the organisations will fight for the causes of the community jointly.
