JKBWA honours retired army personnel

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Batwal Welfare Association celebrated the 67th Republic Day with great fervour and also honoured community’s retired defence personnel at a function held here on Monday.
On the occasion, Association’s President Ex MLA Sat Paul Lakhotra and the Chairman Sub. Maj. Romesh Sargotra jointly unfurled the National Flag.
Convener of the Republic Day Celebration Committee, R.L Kaith said that before belonging to any caste or religion we are Indian and being Indian we must respect our Constitution and its makers.
Association President Lakhotra said the main motive to celebrate this day was to make community members realise the essence of our Constitution.
On the occasion, the association honoured Batwal community’s retired defence personnel who had contributed tirelessly in all aspects of voluntary service whether it was practical assistance to others or community activities or raising funds for charity. They included Capt. Om Parkash Tugga, Capt. Ram Lal Sargotra, Capt. Kamal Chand Motan, Capt. Darbari Lal Sargotra, Sub. Maj. Thoru Ram Mandi, Sub. Maj. Romesh Sargotra, Sub. Baldev Chand Sandhu, Sub. Narayan Dass Bassa, Hav. Des Raj Kaith, Hav. Mohan Lal Motan, Hav. Rattan Lal Motan and Hav. Uttam Chand Sandhu. Among others who witnessed the celebration include Naib Sarpanch Som Nath Tugga, Naib Sarpanch Ram Lal Lakhotra, Mela Ram Tugga, Piara Lal Lakhotra, Madan Raj Kaith, Om Parkash Sargotra, Ram Singh Kaith, Gurdas Chand Sargotra, Naresh Kumar Kaith, Harbans Lal Motan, Bua Ditta Kaith, Raj Kumar Sargotra and Bhawani Lakhotra.
