Eliminate all barriers to the peace process
Dear Editor,
The mutual agreement between India and Pakistan to let the dialogue process continue, despite the adjournment of Foreign Secretary level talks that was scheduled for 15th January, has ruffled a few feathers in some quarters who are overtly averse to the idea of enjoying friendly relationship with Pakistan. This agreement was possible only due to the action taken by the Pakistani Government against some Pakistan-based elements, based on the record and information provided by India to Pakistan of their involvement in the Pathankot attack.
It bodes well that communication between both the neighbours is continuing even as both the Prime Ministers – Narendra Modi and Nawaz Sharif – along with the National Security Advisors and Foreign Secretaries have been in contact. Pakistan Army Chief General Raheel Sharif too is on board. This indicates the army’s subscription to the views. Now, efforts must be made to eliminate barriers to the ongoing talks.
