SRINAGAR: A possible terror strike on security forces ahead of Republic Day was averted after Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday arrested five Harkat-ul-Mujahidden terrorists from Baramulla district.
The Police busted the Harkat-ul-Mujahidden (HuM) module in Baramulla early morning on Saturday. The investigation till now has revealed that the arrested terrorists were planning to launch an attack on security forces on the eve of Republic Day. Acting upon intelligence input a joint operation was conducted by Sopore Police and 52-RR in Sangrama area. During the operation the joint party nabbed two militants Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi alias Umer son of Mushtaq Ahmad resident of Model Town Sopore, and Aijaz Ahmad Gojri alias Chota Kalimullah son Abdul Rehman Gojri resident of Old town old town Baramulla and recovered from their possession one Chinese pistol, one pistol magazine and two hand grenades and other ammunition was recovered.
Investigation led to the arrest of three more associates Danish Gaffer Gojri alias Kalimullah son of Abdul Gaffar resident of Drangbal, Baramulla, Javaid Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Akbar Dar resident of Khanpora Baramulla and Mohammad Sameer Kandoo alias Sameer Baba son of Ghulam Mohi-u-Din Baba resident of Shalbaf Mohallah Anchar Soura Srinagar. During the interrogation it was found that Danish Ahmad Gogri and Javaid Ahmad Dar joined the HuM in September 2015 after they got motivated by local terrorist Ishfaq Ahmad Sofi alias Umer who was handled by Sajad Shaheen alias Sajad Afgani resident of Pak to rejuvenate the terror outfit in the valley. Both of them were in touch with Sajad Afgani through social media. A case vide FIR No. 09/2016 under section 7/25 I.A Act has been registered in Police Station Tazoo and further investigation has been taken up.
