Six bookies held with Rs 45,700 stake money, mobile phones

JAMMU: Police on Thursday arrested six gamblers and recovered ten mobiles, one laptop, some diaries and Rs. 45,700 from a house situated here at Channi Himmat.
According to a report, on specific information Police team headed by Inspector Sajjad Haider, SHO Police Station Channi Himmat, Jammu conducted a raid at House No 46 Sector No 3 Channi Himmat, arrested six persons and recovered Rs. 45,700, playing cards, 10 mobile phones, one laptop and two diaries from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Suresh Pachnanda, Raj Kumar, resident of House No 46 Sector No. 3 Channi Himmat, Suresh Kumar, son of Kewal Krishan Gupta, resident of House No. 16 Purani Mandi, Jammu, Arun Kumar son of Gori Shanker, resident of House No 247 Mast Garh, Jammu, Rakesh Singh, son of Janak Singh, resident of Chinore, Jammu, Paramjeet Singh, son of Narinder Singh, resident of House No. 660 Kanak Mandi, Jammu and Ishant Gupta, son of Vinod Gupta, resident of 97-F Talab Khatikan, Jammu.
In addition to spot gambling these accused persons were engaged in online gambling activities through internet on mobile phones and laptop duping the people via Satta / matches. A case has been registered under relevant sections of law.
The raid was conducted by Police team under the close supervision of Rafiq Manhas, Dy SP SDPO City East, Shazaad Salana (KPS) SP City South Jammu and under the overall supervision of Uttam Chand, SSP Jammu. The inquest proceedings have been initiated and more arrests in the online Satta cannot be ruled out.
