JAMMU: National Students Union on India (NSUI), J and K, on Wednesday protested over alleged suicide by a Dalit research scholar in Hyderabad University.
A large number of NSUI activists led by State President Neeraj Kundan assembled in front of main gate of University of Jammu and raised slogans against Union HRD Minister Simriti Irani for alleged abetting a Dalit student to commit suicide.
Neeraj Kundan said that a Dalit Ph. D student Rohit Vemula of Hyderabad University, who wanted to be a writer, was driven to commit suicide due to anti-Dalit and intolerance of dissent shown by Union HRD Ministry under whose instructions the institution had acted against human dignity and knowledge.
He also criticised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not speaking up against various incidents of intolerance and inhuman acts committed by BJP and its sister organisations.
Abhisheikh Dogra, Rohit Atri, Nasir Hussain and Chetan Kundal also spoke on the occasion.
