Inter-college competitions of JU GGM, SPMR sail into next round of T20

JAMMU: The GGM Science College and Government SPMR College of Commerce won their respective matches, rather comfortably, to qualify for the next round of ongoing inter-college men’s cricket tournament, organised by Directorate of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu (JU) on the campus Ground, here on Wednesday.
In the first match of the day, GGM made it five wickets win against ASCOMS. Batting first, ASCOMS could make 82 runs losing three wickets in allotted 15 overs game. Hitesh and Rohit Singh were main scorers with 33 and 25 runs in their respective accounts. For Science College, Nikhil and Ravi shared one wicket each.
In reply, Science College overhauled the total making 83 runs in just 12.3 overs losing five wickets. Ankush Sharma made highest 24-ball 32 runs, followed by Govind, who added 14 and Aman (13). For ASCOMS, Yuvraj took two wickets for 16 runs in three overs.
Meanwhile, in other match of the day, SPMR College of Commerce registered an outright victory beating Post Graduate (PG) Arts by nine wickets.
Earlier, batting first, PG Arts set a target of 109 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. Gulzar Singh and Imran were main scorers with 34 and 27 runs respectively. For Commerce College, Kulwinder and Mohit took two wickets each while Sunny Gupta bagged one.
Batting second, Commerce College achieved the target making 111 runs in 13.5 overs losing only wicket of Nadeem Ahmed. Surya Mahotra made 16-ball 26 runs hitting three fours and one six while Suryansh Raina contributed 32-ball 40 runs. Aresh Sharma added 34-ball 39 runs hitting seven boundaries.
Today’s matches were officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman, Vijay Dogra, Suresh Singh, Pankaj Sasan and Raj Kumar as Umpires while Manu Khajuria was Scorer.
