Banihal: Devoid of uninterrupted supply of electricity in adverse weather conditions large number of people staged a protest demonstration at village Tantry Pura in Banihal Tehsil of Distt Ramban on Tuesday.
Villagers of Tantry Pura Doligam held a protest and demonstration against the Power Development Department (PDD) and disrupted traffic movement on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, at main market Banihal for non-availability of transformer and electricity poles in the area.
About 40-50 residents of village Tantry pura today afternoon assembled near Tehsil office and staged protest demonstration against PDD authorities.
The protestors also blocked National Highway and disrupted traffic movement for about 15-20 minutes and raised slogans against PDD authorities. They alleged that in last 28 days the electric poles and transformer has been sanctioned for ward no.7 of village Doligam but the same poles were installed in different locations and the villagers still suffers due to poor electricity.
The irate resident’s threatened total blockage of the National Highway in case the PDD failed to install the transformer and Power polls.
DySP Banihal Mohd. Rafiq Choudhary and AEE PDD Fayaz Ahmed reached the spot and assured the protestors to look into the matter and redress it as soon as possible. After assurances from the administration, protesters called off their protest.
