JAMMU: President of the National Mazdoor Conference (NMC), Subash Shastri on Sunday appealed to the Governor to announce a comprehensive regularisation policy of nearly 61,000 daily rated workers working in various departments of the State Government who have been since long without regular services for the last twenty one years.
Addressing a rally here on Sunday, Shastri reminded that the issue of daily rated workers was comprehensively resolved as per the policy direction during President’s rule.
The then Governor, General (Retd) K.V Krishna Rao had announced regularisation of daily rated workers in his Republic Day address in 26th of January 1995.
Shastri hoped that the present regime will take a leaf out of his predecessors book and announce a similar policy pertaining of daily rated workers.
Shastri draw attention to the fact that prior to constitution of the present legislature the Governor had issued orders for regularisation of nearly left over 3,660 daily rated workers falling under SRO-64 on 27th of February 2015, but the same reformist order was not implemented by the Finance Department till today severely affecting this poor and helpless workforce.
Similarly the issue pertaining in respect of clerical cadre has still not been resolved with the result that there is some degree of resentment within the cadre, Shastri said.
Terming the Governor as an astute administrator who has empowered bureaucrats to mitigate salaried class suffering, Shastri hoped that these burning issues are expected to be resolved only under Governor’s Rule.
Other demands highlighted by Shastri include early release of 6 per cent DA due from July last year besides release of all pending dues of daily rated workers, enhancement of medical allowance to Rs. 1,000 per month, issuing of regularisation orders of 180 daily rated workers working in Rural Development Department, release of wages of motivators working in IWD Project Second and their immediate regularisation.
Among others who also spoke on the occasion were Rajan Babu Khajuria, B.S Jamwal, Sudesh Bhagat, Bhupinder Singh, Sham Lal Sharma, Jaipal Sharma, Pardeep Kumar, Mohan Lal, Surinder Kumar, Barkat Ram, Sukhdev Singh and Karan Singh.
