KATRA: Wrestler Shotu of Akhnoor lifted 45th Annual Dhara-Ardhan Dangal title defeating wrestler Inderjeet of Amritsar in Punjab in the main bout that lasted for 15 minutes at village Pail in Tehsil Mera Maindrian and District Jammu.
Wrestler Shotu was adjusted as the Best Wrestler of the Dangal which was organised by Dhara-Ardhan Dangal Committee under the aegis of J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association.
The title winner wrestler Shotu got a cash prize of Rs 5,100 by MLA Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma and Joint Secretary, J and K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma while runner-up wrestler Inderjeet got Rs 3,000 by President J and K Yuva Rajput Sabha, Surinder Singh Gill Manhas and Jatinder Singh, President of the Dangal Committee.
MLA Akhnoor, Rajeev Sharma was the Chief Guest on the occasion, who distributed cash prizes among the winner and runner-up wrestlers.
Treasurer Indian Style Wrestling Association of India who is also President J and K Indian Style Wrestling Association and President Senior Citizens Welfare Forum Katra, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided over the function.
The second bout was won by Devinder of Domana Akhara Jammu defeating Johnny of Amritsar. Devinder was awarded with Rs 4,100 while runner-up wrestler Johnny got Rs 2,000. Third bout was won by Dharminder of Amritsar who defeated Murad Ali of Domana Akhara. Fourth bout was won by Sadiq of Domana Akhara who defeated Suresh of Pathankot.
In all, 67 bouts were played in the one day long Dangal.
Dangal was organised under the supervision of Organising Committee including Jatinder Singh Master, Surinder Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Om Parkash, Sanjay Kumar, Shalli Kumar, Mohinder Kumar, Devinder Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Surjeet Singh, Romesh Kumar, Nanak Chand, Master Prabh Dayal, Ram Lal, Surinder Singh, Faqir Singh, Kartar Chand, Ram Rattan, Kuljeet Singh, Rashpal Singh, Mohinder Singh, Prabh Dayal and Ashok Kumar.
Technical Officials who helped for conduct of Dangal included Mohd. Fareed, Ram Kishan and Jatinder Singh.
The proceedings of the Dangal were conducted by Mohd. Fareed, while welcome address was given by Jatinder Singh, President of the Dangal Committee. The vote of thanks was presented by Shiv Kumar Sharma.
Other results: Vicky of Amritsar beat Johnni of HP, Jagdish of Pathankot defeated Prem Verma of Jhiri, Kalu of HP outplayed Billu of Kot Bhalwal, Ballu of Dera Baba Nanak trounced Swarn Singh of Kot Bhawal, Bagga of Amritsar downed Vijay of Bai-Bajalta and Shinda of Amritsar blanked Gopal Sharma of Jindrah.
