JAMMU: Expressing dismay over the delay in enquiry ordered by the Director Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir against the alleged wrong doings of ex-Officer MC Gulmarg, National Panthers Party (NPP) sought an immediate Governor’s intervention into the matter in the interest of administration and rule of the law.
Chetan Sharma, senior NPP leader, while addressing the media here on Saturday, said that Gulmarg Bachav Committee, an NGO of Kashmir had filed a complaint to the Ex- Minister Housing and Urban Development Department J and K pertaining to the land scandals and fake appointments made by then Executive Officer of MC Gulmarg Gulam Rasool Shah who is currently posted at MC Sopore.
Apprised by the NGO, he disclosed that the erring officer was involved in the unlawful allotments of land to his relatives at Tangmarg and Gulmarg for the construction of commercial establishments besides appointment of more than 35 persons in MC Gulmarg and MC Kunzer during his posting against huge bribe.
Chetan revealed that on the receipt of persistent complaints from Gulmarg Bachav Committee and the inhabitants of Budgam town, the Director Urban Local Bodies, Kashmir constituted a three members committee in the month of August last year to initiate enquiry into the allegations of illegal appointments made in MC Tangmarg/Gulmarg and Kunzer and building permissions issued in MC Budgam and MC Tangmarg in violation of rules by Gulam Rasool Shah during his respective postings.
He added that more than six months have passed but the enquiry committee has failed to consider the case.
Sharma urged the Governor to intervene into the matter and sought initiation of pending enquiry against the erring officer within two weeks in the interest of justice.
