KATHUA: Rich tributes were paid to Saheed Piar Singh on his Death Anniversary at village Kukey Chak near Kathua on Thursday.
As per a press release, Rajiv Jasrotia, MLA Kathua, Ramesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner Kathua and Dr. Bharat Bhushan, Chief Executive Officer, Lakhanpur Sarthal Development Authority led the gathering in paying tributes to the departed soldier.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan, apprised that Saheed Piar Singh attained martyrdom on 14th January, 2004 at Siachin Glacier, under Operation Meghdoot.
MLA, Kathua, Deputy Commissioner Kathua and CEO, LSDA paid floral tributes to Shaheed Piar Singh. Prominent among those who paid tributes to the brave soldier included Ex MLA Dhian Chand, Col. P.LChoudhary, President all J&K Ex Servicemen Welfare Association, Rattan Chand Krotra Retd. SP, Som Raj Majotra ,BSP Leader, Sardar Charanjeet Singh Bhola, Distt. President of Sikh Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Sardar Mohinder Singh, former Vice President Municipal Council Kathua, M.L Toofan Retd. DC Excise, Prof. Dhian Singh, Prof. R.K Gupta, Capt. Gian Singh Pathania, Ravinder Pathania, scores of decorated ex- services officers, family members of Shaheed Piar Singh, Sarpanchs ,Panchs and people of the area. The Deputy Commissioner, CEO, LSDA and family members of Shaheed Piar Singh planted saplings near the memorial of the brave soldier.
