palampur: Army has been a key player in conserving the eco-system, aiding greenery and keeping a clean and pollution free environment in India.
In consonance with these objectives Greenathon Run for Fun campaign was organised at Palampur Military Station, on Saturday.
“Eco-Warriors of the Dah Division participated in a two kilometer run and walk event wherein the men, women and children enthusiastically spread the message of environmental awareness,” Defence Spokesperson Lt Col Manish Mehta said.
“A second event consisting of five kilometer run saw energetic runners gunning for the top three positions. Both the events were flagged off by General Officer Commanding, Dah Division,” he added.
“Paintings by the children on the Environmental Conservation were also displayed as part of the event,” he said adding that all ranks of the Palampur Military Station carried out a special cleanliness drive during the event.
Educative posters and banners promoting environmental awareness donned prominent places in the cantonment.
At a time when the nation is grappling with issues related to pollution, he said, this campaign seeks to revive the need to have a cleaner and greener environment thereby assuring our present and future generations with a healthier life.
