Congress for immediate elections of JMC

JAMMU: President, District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban), Anil Chopra on Saturday demanded immediate elections of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in order to address the burning problems of the people residing in Jammu city.
The elections are imperative for strengthening the democratic institutions in the State at the ground level, he added.
Chopra was addressing meetings at Ward No.14, 30 and 31 here today.
He asked the party functionaries at the grass root level to gear up themselves for the elections to the Urban Local Bodies, which may be held any time in near future.
He said that ward committees would be strengthened further in order to gear up the urban district for the ensuing ULB elections in the State.
B.B Gupta, Mian Nazir Ahmed, Madan Lal Malagar, Dr. R.K Khajuria, J.L Koul, M.R Sharma, Som Raj, Sanjeev Sharma, Gourab Chopra, Rajinder Singh Chib and Gulshan Kumar also spoke in these meetings.
