KISHTWAR: The Chenab Contractors Association (CCA) has requested the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kishtwar to arrange a meeting of the representatives of the association with the Heads of the Departments to sort out the number of problems which come in the way of issuing tenders and finalising the contracts for various works.
Highlighting their problems the association submitted a memorandum of demands and said that the policy of e-tendering now introduced by the government is impracticable in the cases of remote areas where net work is not satisfactory for small contractors.
They also highlighted that they are charged double taxes for the material issued to them by the departments for contracted works. They also brought out the problem of late payments because the cheques issued to them for the work done remain piling up with the treasury for months together.
President of the Association Ashfaq Hussain appealed to the DDC to convene a meeting between the heads of the departments and the representatives of the association to redress their grievances.
