KATHUA: Irked over frequent breakdown of transformer, villagers of Baghial village Kathua on Friday held a protest against the Power Development Department (PDD) and raised slogans against Dy CM Dr Nirmal Singh who is also Power Minister and disrupted traffic movement on Jammu- Kathua National Highway for over one and half hour .
Villagers assembled on National Highway (NH) Baghial Morh, staged a protest against PDD authorities and blocked the national highway by burning tyres on roads
They alleged that 16 days back the transformer of the area broke down and after a gap of so many days, the department and XEn Kathua did not turn a ear towards the miseries of the people of said area dispite repeated requests.
The irate residents threatened total blockage of the busy national highway in case the power supply is not restored at the earliest in the area.
The protestors later dispersed after Police Post Incharge Hatli Morh Kathua Mohon Dhingra reached the spot and assured them to do the needful.After half hour DSP Headquarters Ajay Kumar Sharma assured the people again while talking on phone with PDD official.
