VHP demands elaborate security arrangements for Amarnath Yatra

JAMMU: Vishav Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday demanded elaborate security arrangements for the Amarnath Yatra, starting from 2nd July 2015, citing recent ant-national activities in the Kashmir Valley.
“Elaborate security arrangements should be made for the Amarnath Yatra in the wake of the chain of anti-national and terror incidents that took place in Kashmir during the month,” State VHP patron and Founder Trustee of Baba Amarnath and Budda Amarnath Yatri Niyas, Ramakant Dubey told reporters here.
The Hindu outfit also demanded urgent clearance of the Yatra route to ensure smooth and trouble-free Yatra to Shri Amarnath Cave Shrine.
Expressing apprehensions over the smooth conduct of the ensuing Amarnath Yatra, he said the progress achieved so far in the context is certainly under doubt.
“Though duration of the Yatra is two months but registration of Yatris is on the decline this year,” he said adding that roughly 1.70 lakh is the latest figure of the registered Yatris till date.
Dubey apprehended that anti-Yatra propaganda is playing a lead role and unstable and chaotic conditions prevailing in J and K especially in the Valley with regular hoisting of Pak and ISIS flags is also creating a fear psychosis among the people throughout the country.
Dubey said that Shrine Board and State Government are virtually working under the pressure of separatists and other Islamic Fundamentalist Organisations like ISIS, etc.
“People do hope for the good but they are being over shadowed by anti-Yatra agencies like religious fundamentalist and anti-national elements,” he said adding that the reports of track clearance are also not encouraging.
“Allowing setting up of lesser number of community kitchens at various points and denial of on-spot registration through Niyas may also be one of the reasons for the expected decrease of Yatra”, he asserted.
Dubey urged Shrine Board and other concerned agencies to adopt proactive approach for wooing more and more Yatris to make this year’s Yatra phenomenal.
