District officers check market, collect fine of Rs 5,500

POONCH :On the directions of District Development Commissioner (DDC) Poonch Nissar Ahmed Wani, a team of district officers visited the market and checked the quality of vegetables, fruit and meat being sold in the market and the rates charged.
The team of officers comprising Tehsildar Poonch Vakil Ahmed, Assistant Director CAPD Harpal Singh, Assistant Food Safety Officer Tariq Mehmood, TSO Mohd Riaz and Sanitary Inspector Mohd Rehman visited all the vegetable, fruit and meat shops and checked its quality as well as the rates. The team realised a fine of Rs 5,500 from the defaulters and fixed the rates at which they have to sell the items.
The team allowed the vegetable and fruit sellers to charge 35 per cent extra on their cost at Jammu. Regarding meat they fixed the rate of chicken live at Rs 122 per kg and dressed at Rs 130 per kg. The rate of sheep/goat meat was fixed at Rs 300 per kg. The team also seized 20 kg polythene bags from the shopkeepers and advised them not to use these in future.
