SRTC VRS employees hold demonstration

JAMMU: Volunteer retired employees of SRTC (SRTC VRS) on Wednesday held demonstration outside Press Club under the leadership of Dev Raj Bali, President All J and K SRTC Volunteer Retired Employees Association in support of their demands.
Amidst anti-government slogans, protesters strongly criticized the attitude of the Transport Higher authorities and Finance Department for failing to clear their legitimate dues.
They said at the time of voluntary retirement they were promised to get their dues cleared within 60 days but it was sorry state of affairs that their pending dues including 16 slabs of COLA with effect from January 1, 2006, 18 slabs of 2007, 26 slabs of 2008, 25 slabs of 2009 and 31 slabs up to April 2010 and pending arrears since 1999, 6th Pay Commission from January 2006 and total amount of 742 VRS employees come out to Rs 30,16,10,673.00.
They appealed to the Chief Minister come to personally intervene into their matter and clear their pending dues.
Others present were Balwinder Singh, J.D Singh, Surinder Singh, B.B Sharma, Surjit Singh, Sain Mohd, Sat Bhushan and Gulshan Singh.
