Amit Shah flags off week-long Naari Samman Yatra
New Delhi: BJP President Amit Shah today flagged off a week-long ‘Naari Samman Yatra’ which seeks to create awareness among women about their safety and highlight various social welfare schemes launched by the Centre for them and the girl child.
The yatra will pass through Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal and will culminate in Kolkata on June 24 after covering a distance of 2,800 km during its first phase.
BJP plans to connect with women through this yatra being led by party’s women’s wing chief Vijaya Rahatkar.
Shah flagged off the yatra from outside the party headquarters on Ashoka Road.
“The yatra intends to increase participation of women in this process of development,” Rahatkar said.
She said the government has initiated several schemes for the welfare of women and the girl child that include Jan Dhan Yojana, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Naari Samman Yojana, Himmat App, increasing Nirbhaya fund, and awareness among women will be created through this yatra.
The party plans to undertake similar yatra in other parts of the country as well, she said.
