One held with 416 liquor pouches, other absconds

KATRA: Police on Tuesday arrested one person in connection with selling of liquor in Holy Town Katra and recovered 416 pouches of liquor from his possession.
According to a report, a team of Police Personnel headed by Inspector Kuldeep Krishan, SHO Police Station Katra under the supervision of Dr. Ashok Sharma, SDPO Katra, Sumir Kotwal, Addl. SP Katra and overall supervision of Sujit Kumar, SSP Reasi apprehended one person namely Vishal Sharma son of Mohan Lal resident of Mahadev Mandir W.No.11 Reasi District at Railway Station and recovered 20 pouches of liquor along with cash Rs.6,540 earned by the sale of liquor from his possession. A case under FIR No.96/2015 section 48-A Excise Act and 188/RPC was registered at Police Station Katra.
During investigation of the case and on the disclosure of the accused person about a hideout of liquor in the premises of Railway Road Katra, the house of one Rakesh Sharma son of Bodh Raj alias Raju Gunda resident of W.No.12 Katra was raided by the police in presence of SDM Katra and SDPO Katra. During the search, 11 sealed packs of liquor containing 396 poly pouches making in all 416 poly pouches of liquor J and K Excise were recovered and seized in this case. Moreover, 14 empty cases were also seized from the spot which were used for transportation of liquor. The search of other accused namely Rakesh is going on who fled away from the spot.
However, from the perusal of police records, a case under FIR No.24/2000, section 307/452/34/RPC and 88/2000 section 302/34/RPC were registered against Rakesh Sharma from which it has been established that he is a habitual of criminal activities.
