JAMMU: Air Force Station Jammu is organizing Western Air Command (WAC) Inter-Area Hockey Championship 2015-16 from 15th to 19th June, 2015.
Five teams from Western Air Command, Jammu, Ambala, Adampur, Pathankot and Hindon are taking part in the championship. The event was inaugurated by Air Officer Commanding of Air Force Station Jammu, Air Commodore Ashutosh Lal, at KK Hakku Stadium, here on Monday. The event will be played in a round robin format and the top two teams will compete for the championship. The Air Officer during the inauguration emphasised the importance and significance of sports in armed forces and human life in general. Further, the Air Officer also emphasized that armed forces has a tradition of producing some finest hockey players who have donned the Indian colours which includes the greatest hockey player the world has ever seen Major Dhyan Chand.
