Silver Jubilee Himalayan Trekking Programme Shiksha Niketan students leave for Chamunda

JAMMU: As part of the ongoing Silver Jubilee Himalayan Trekking Programme, organized by Tawi Trekkers J and K, the sixth group of trekkers comprising 45 students of Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Jeevan Nagar, here left on Sunday for Chamunda under the leadership of Sonam Sidharth, Joint Secretary of the Club.
Three teachers of the school, namely Arjun Singh, Rakesh Kumar and Shubamdeep Singh along with a senior member of Tawi Trekkers J and K Anil Kumar also accompanied the group.
The group was flagged off by Principal of Shiksha Niketan Senior Secondary School, Rameshwar Mengi. A large number of staff members of the school and parents of the participants gave them a warm send off in the school premises.
Meanwhile, the first three groups comprising of students of Oriental Academy Senior Secondary School, Jammu, St. Xavier Convent Higher Secondary School, Barnai, Jammu and Shangrilla Public School, Sarwal have reached back after a memorable experience of trekking in the Macleodganj area of Himachal Pradesh.
The next batch of trekkers of J K Public School, Mubarak Mandi, Jammu shall leave for the venture on 17th June.
The aim of the Himalayan Trekking Programme which Tawi Trekkers has been organising during summer vacations for the last about 25 years is to take the students away from the scorching heat and dust, hustle and bustle and monotony of city life and to bring them closer to nature thereby imbibing in them a deep sense of love for adventure and Himalaya.
Tawi Trekkers J and K is a voluntary, non profit making social service adventure sports organization run by a group of highly dedicated young boys and girls whose only aim is to spread the spirit of adventure and love of nature amongst all strata of society without distinction of colour, caste, class or creed.
