NZ Sports Meet concludes at Sainik School Nagrota

JAMMU: The North Zone Inter Sainik Schools Sports Meet-2015 hosted by Sainik School Nagrota from 8th June 2015 concluded at Maj Somnath Sharma (PVC) Stadium in the school amidst fanfare and jubilation on Sunday.

Chief Guest, Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament and Member, Local Board of Administration, Sainik School Nagrota gave away the Championship Trophies to the winners of various games.

Principal of the School, Col K.D Koushal presented welcome address and briefed the Chief Guest about the conduct of Zonal Competitions amongst Sainik Schools.

In his address, the Chief Guest complimented the Principal and the team of staff for organising the Sports Meet successfully.

As a gesture of special appreciation for the spectacular display of the School Band, the Chief Guest presented a pack of sweets to the Band Captain Cadet Sameer Takyal.

The Closing Ceremony was marked by an impressive March Past by the participating contingents of five North Zone Sainik Schools to tune of the School Band.

Sainik School Nagrota won the North Zone Basketball Championship while Sainik School Kunjpura retained the Volleyball title. Sainik School Sujanpur Tira clinched the Hockey Championship and both Junior and Sub-junior Football trophies were bagged by Sainik School Ghorakhal. Sainik School Kunjpura won the overall championship trophy. Amongst outstanding individual performers, Cadet Sahil Manhas of the host school bagged the Best Player award in Volleyball and Cadet Ankit Kumar of SS Kunjpura won the Highest Scorer award in Basketball.

The other awards included Cadet Himdeep Kumar Singh (SS Sujanpur Tira) –Highest Scorer and Cadet Bhavneesh Mausam (SS Kapurthala) -Best Goal Keeper in Hockey, Cadet Utkarsh Nainwal (SS Ghorakhal) –Highest Scorer and Cadet Divyansh Chand (SS Ghorakhal)-Best Goal Keeper in Junior Football and Cadet Deepak Kumar (SS Kapurthala)-Highest Scorer and Cadet Anmol Kumar (SS Ghorakhal) –Best Goal Keeper in Sub-junior Football.

Following prize distribution, Col Koushal presented the School Memento to the Chief Guest and the North Zone Inter Sainik Schools Sports Meet-2015 was formally declared closed.
