2 kg opium recovered from shop, owner absconds

JAMMU: Police on Saturday recovered two kilograms of opium from a shop here in Transport Nagar, Jammu.
According to a report, a police party on specific information raided shop No. 87, belonging to Faryad Ali (Tours and Travels) in Transport Nagar Narwal Yard No 1 in the presence of Magistrate and recovered two kg opium. However, accused managed to escape.
A case FIR No. 138/2015 under Section 8/21 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Trikuta Nagar and a manhunt has been launched to nab Faryad Ali, a resident of Bathindi. SDPO East Mohammad Rafiq Manhas supervised the raid which was conducted on the directions of IGP Jammu and DIG Jammu Kathua range against drug peddlers.
