SRINAGAR: One of the junior officials of Jammu and Kashmir Bank, who has been sent on deputation to the State government and has joined as head of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed’s Grievances Cell in CM’s Secretariat, was sarcastically greeted by former Chief Minister and National Conference President Omar Abdullah on taking over his new assignment.
Saadut Hussain, who simultaneously writes for Caravan magazine, according to Omar Abdullah, is the famous social media name Ibne Battuta. In the political turbulence of 2010, and thereafter, Ibne Battuta grew popular on Twitter for his hardcore anti-India posts. He also targeted National Conference and Omar Abdullah in his widely retweeted posts.
“Congratulations to Saadut Hussian otherwise known as @ibnebattuta on taking over as head of the J&K CM’s grievances cell, moving from JK Bank”, Omar posted on Twitter on Wednesday.
Sources quoting a Police inquiry said that Hussain has been handling PDP’s as well the PDP President Mehbooba Mufti’s Twitter handle even as one of the party’s Youth Wing leaders has been handling her Facebook account.
Through his sarcastic Tweet, Omar seems to have attempted to convey that the real author of Ibne Battuta’s 2010 Tweets and other anti-national posts was none other than the PDP leader.
PDP’s spokesperson Dr Mehboob Beg could not be reached immediately for his reaction.
