DODA: Pirates of Chittagong (POC) Bangladesh lifted the title of prestigious All India 11th Gufran Memorial T20 Cricket Championship 2015 defeating Knight Riders Thathri by six wickets in the final played at Sports Stadium Doda, on Wednesday.
The tournament was organized by Young Star Cricket Club Doda and sponsored by Rashtriya Rifles Bn Doda, J&K Bank and Natnoo Furnishing House Doda.
Special Secretary Technical Education, Youth Services and Sports Officer, J and K, Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed was the Chief Guest while DDC Doda Bhupinder Kumar, 2IC 10RR Lt Col Kailash Jha, SSP Doda Zahid Naseem Manhas, Executive Engineer PHE Division Doda Er Wahid Zargar, Dy SP Hqrs Qayoom Runyal, Dy SP DAR Nisar Ahmed, Distt Youth Services and Sports Officer and Administrator Auqaf Asif Jahan Gattu were the Special Guests on the occasion.
Batting first, Knight Riders Thathri set a target of 121 runs for the loss of ten wickets in 18.4 overs. Rahul Mussa was the highest scorer with 28 runs while Akash contributed 25 runs for his team.
For POC Bangladesh, Munir-ur-Zaman clinched four wickets while Tariq Aziz took three.
In reply, POC Bangladesh after getting a good start chased down the target in 13.1 overs for the loss of four wickets. Yasir Ali played a winning knock of 49 runs while Sajad-ul-Haque Ripon added 29 runs to the total.
For Knight Riders Thathri, Akash and Hrithik shared two wickets each.
Munir-ur-Zaman of POC Bangladesh was declared as Man of the Match for his best bowling performance while Ashu of Kight Riders Thathri team was declared as Man of the Series for his all round performance.
Chief Guest gave away winner trophy and cash prize of Rs 1 lakh to POC Bangladesh while Rs 40,000 to the runner up team.
The match was officiated by Munish Zutshi and Arif-ur-Rehman Sujan as Umpires whereas Rinku Bhaduria acted as Scorer.
Chief Guest, DDC Doda Bhupinder Kumar, SSP Doda Zahid Manhas and 21C Lt Col Kailash Jha lauded the efforts of Young Star Cricket Club Doda and praised their efforts for organizing such mega event in this region which will boost up the cricket morale. They also congratulated all participating teams for showing sportsmanship during this tournament.
