JAMMU: A team of All India Backward Classes Union (AIBCU) on Monday visited Bathindi, Sunjwan and Reka areas and listened to the problems of the people residing in these areas.

The residents expressed that Government through Forest Department is creating panic among dwellers that the land over which the people have been residing before 1947 is ‘Malak Sarkar’. They said that a conspiracy is being hatched to vacate the land from the people of Bathindi, Sunjwan and Reka areas.

Later, addressing the meeting, members of AIBCU said that the land in question at these localities is in the possession of residents long before 1947 and is not a ‘Makbuja’ land of forest.

A resolution was also passed in the meeting to regularise these colonies on the lines akin to Chhanni Himmat, Trikuta Nagar, Sanjay Nagar, Gandhi Nagar, Bakshi Nagar and Jawahar Nagar. The meeting also urged government to provide justice to the people living in these localities and refrain from taking any decision on sectarian thought as the majority of population living in these localities belonged to backward classes. The meeting however lauded the efforts of MLA Devender Singh Rana in projecting the issue in right prospective.

Master Yunis, Master Farman, Wali Mohammad Bhat, Master Murad Ali, Sham Lal, Subash, Harbans Lal, Karnail Singh, Nazir Ahmed, Zafar Hussain and Prof. Kali Dass spoke on the occasion.
