Centre approves 729 projects under RIDF,CRF

SRINAGAR: Instructing to ensure completion of the projects within stipulated time frame and utilization of standard material in the works, the Minister for R&B, Gardens, Parks and Floriculture, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has asked the authorities of R&B Department to move out of offices to project sites and monitor how the works are going on the there.
He warned that dead woods have no place in the administration and asked the authorities to prepare a list of such functionaries, who shrink their responsibilities.
He asked them to bring a perceptible change in the work culture in their offices by proper usage of available manpower. He also ordered for tendering of all the works within a week after receiving approval from competent authority.
The minister was reviewing the progress of the road and other projects at an officers meeting here on Saturday.
Underlining need for submitting timely utilization certificates to Government of India, the minister said it will pave way to Central Government for releasing further funds for other ongoing projects. He asked Superintending and Executive Engineers to take care of this job and ensure that UCs are submitted to concerned agency immediately after completion of the project.
He said this tendency needs to be checked henceforth and asked the heads of the units to follow the set procedure while framing project reports.
Syed Altaf said that no project should suffer because of land acquisition and directed authorities to settle all such issues immediately. He asked them to follow strictly the guidelines prescribed for Central Road Fund (CRF) and NABARD besides reconciliation of the accounts with Finance Department.
The meeting was informed that 293 projects have been completed out 718, approved under Road Infrastructural Develop-ment Fund (RIDF) while work in progress on 409 projects. Under CRF 11 projects have been approved for Kashmir, the meeting was told.
