Innovative teaching methods boost teachers’ motivation: Akhtar

SRINAGAR: Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar on Tuesday said that new and innovative teaching methods not only help increase level of motivation among teachers but also strengthen level of understanding among children.

The minister stated this on a visit to four-Day Workshop on Teaching and Learning Pedagogy for Middle Schools, organized by Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH) in association with School Education Department at Lal Ded Cultural Centre, here.

The workshop has been organized by INTACH in line with the project on “Improving Quality of Education through Child Participation in J&K”. In this project British School, New Delhi is the knowledge partner and the project has been sponsored by Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, Mumbai.

Around 32 teachers from different Government Schools and some Private schools are participating in the programme, in which they are being taught Art Integrated Learning wherein emphasis is being given to the use of Art for teaching Math, Science, EVS and English.

The minister said that such workshops help develop skills among teachers to teach in a better manner. More such workshops should be held wherein teachers who are new recruits should be taught so that the same knowledge is transferred to the students, he added. He asked the concerned to organize such workshops for teachers of Model Schools being developed both in Jammu and Srinagar.

Director Tourism, Kashmir, Farooq Ahmed Shah, Convener INTACH Kashmir, Altaf Hussain and other officers were also present on the occasion.
